Michael R. Stensrud

Michael Stensrud has extensive experience in the field of corporate governance and international banking practices. He is currently a Member of the Supervisory Board of ENERTRAG Berlin, a renewable energy provider and is a non executive director of Mongolia Invest Plc, a Jersey domiciled investment company.

During the period 2005 – 2007 he was Senior Banking Advisor to the Ukraine Banking Corporate Governance Project of INTERNATIONAL FINANCE CORPORATION (World Bank Group). Based in Kiev he performed assessments of Ukrainian banks’ governance practices, trained board members on best practices and coached senior managers on their responsibilities, functions and duties regarding risk management, conflict of interest, related parties, transparency, disclosure and shareholder rights. 
 
In January 2008 he was elected an Independent Member of the Supervisory Board of OJSC “RODOVID BANK” in Kiev, serving until July 2009. He joined the bank to help it improve corporate governance and to approach best practices for Board procedures, transparency, disclosure and shareholder’s rights.   

In 2004 he completed a 16 months consulting assignment for the EBRD as Senior Management Advisor to EKSIMBANKA in Belgrade charged with improving institutional development, operational efficiency and strategic planning through coaching the CEO and senior management on best international banking practices.

In 1987 he joined the International Division of CREDIT SUISSE in Zurich to head the Japanese Multinational Corporates Desk. A year later he became a Member of Senior Management responsible for commercial banking in Scandinavia and Finland. In 1993 he was named Area Manager for the Former Soviet Union. As a Director in the Investment Banking Division of CREDIT SUISSE FIRST BOSTON he handled Financial Institutions and Sovereigns in Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Caucasus and Central Asia. In 1998 he became a Director at CREDIT SUISSE GROUP, a financial holding company, with responsibility for selected external relationships and risk management activities at headquarters in Zurich.

He spent 1973 through 1986 with SOCIETE GENERALE DE SURVEILLANCE, the global leader in verification, testing and monitoring services. Postings included New York, Tokyo, Kobe, Manila and at Geneva headquarters where he was a Group Division Manager and Member of the Extended Executive Board.

Michael started his career working as an auditor at PEAT MARWICK MITCHELL. After completing military service he joined in 1972 CARGILL Inc. in London and held various trading and marketing positions.

A citizen of the USA and Switzerland, Michael was born and educated in America receiving his MBA in 1967.
